Think about it, You have a plan when you remodel or build a house, you plan your day, you plan for college,  you need to have a plan to accurately course out the event, to achieve a goal. Benjamin Franklin once said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” So why would it be any different with finances.

I hit rock bottom. No, it wasn’t anyone else’s fault but my own, and some of the mistakes I made you would have thought would be common sense anymore (although it seems that’s not so common either). Regardless, I was never taught how to plan out my finances. They don’t teach you that in school. My parents didn’t know other than what they had learned from trial and error, but they weren’t taught either.

When I hit rock bottom, I decided to make a change. I cracked open the books and discovered that I had a choice. And that choice was to make a plan.

In “The Game Plan”, I teach you how to plan out your finances, get out of debt, and on the path to financial success. No, it’s not a get rich quick scheme; It takes sometimes years to get out of debt and into freedom. But it does help alleviate the stress with automation and a plan.

The following is an excerpt from my book “The Game Plan”, soon to be published.

“There was a time when I hit rock bottom. I was in financial ruin and had no idea what to do. At 22 years old, I was over $40,000 in debt, and had nothing to show for myself. Hadn’t finished school, no student loans, it was just pure ignorance in how to manage money. I had finally collapsed under the unbelievable amount of stress because of my mistakes.

I made a decision to just let everything go. I had lost my give a damn. I had collectors coming after me, and figured, what’s the worst that can happen. I’m already broke, they can’t take anything more from me. Let ‘em all sue me; it’s not like it’s going to do anything. I started thinking bankruptcy was the option.

Something in me made me want to change, although I had gained this persona and made the statements of “who cares”. I still felt like a failure, and I didn’t like that feeling. I made a vow to figure out how to change my life, and to do that, I needed to learn.

The first thing I learned, was that you don’t get taught any practical knowledge on how to manage money in school. If it’s not taught at home, then you get to fend for yourself. It wasn’t my parents fault, they did the best they could, teaching me things they had discovered over the years, but that wasn’t complete, because they were never taught that in school, and probably had the same experience that I had, where their parents taught them what they had figured out. I knew I need to study the wealthy, and figure out what they did. I was tired of never having any money and always under the gun to pay bills, not knowing if I’d be able too.

This is where I want to thank those who stuck with me during those times. They didn’t provide the guidance on how to get out of debt and focus on building wealth, but they were my companions. They gave me hope. I thank you guys.

I started off studying Dave Ramsey. I figured the steps out, and how to create sort of a snowball effect to get my bills paid, and get organized. It ended up being everything to me. I lived and breathed it. If you ask my wife or my friends, they may even say I still do. Business Insider articles was my favorite, I would read those articles and could get a bunch of different sources quickly. Eventually, I started studying Robert Kiyosaki as well. All this, helped me change my mindset, and implement real life strategies for tackling debt, and building wealth.  All this, helped me automate my finances, and take incredible amounts of burden off my chest. With the weight of the bills being managed in the background, I was able to focus on other aspects of my life, and begin to tackle other objectives. My world began to change rapidly.

This is my story.”
